  • When it comes to digital identity, the emergence of new technologies has prompted people to start grappling with ethical dilemmas such as data licensing and ownership.

  • Therefore, we need a legal and technical framework that not only respects individual dignity and authenticity but also takes into account the potential societal impacts—particularly by addressing the inherent risks associated with virtual interactions.

  • Ensuring the responsible development and use of digital identities requires a collaborative effort among experts.

Today, everyone online has a metaverse identity—we’ve all collectively crafted our own digital personas through online interactions, whether on Facebook, Reddit, or even via digital wallet addresses. These data points, tied to our behaviors, representational preferences, and visual similarities, can be translated into a concrete form: our online avatars—or, in other words, our digital replicas. Moreover, we can leverage generative AI to enhance these avatars further, breathing life into them and giving them a sense of autonomy.
