From September 22 to 26, more than 1,000 global leaders from politics, business, international organizations, civil society groups, and academic institutions will gather in New York for the World Economic Forum’s 2025 Sustainable Development Impact Conference. Held alongside the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly and during the UN Global Goals Week, the conference will accelerate progress toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The global economy is currently at a critical juncture, facing multiple challenges including slowing growth, a more complex trade landscape, and the rapid acceleration of technological advancements. The World Economic Forum will bring together its longstanding, mission-driven communities to collectively drive progress on shared priorities.

The multilateral system is increasingly unstable, leaving the future of multilateralism uncertain. Recent data reveals that only 17% of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals are on track to be achieved by 2030—while nearly half of these targets show limited or negligible progress, and more than one-third have either stalled or even regressed entirely. From geopolitical tensions to economic growth within planetary boundaries, the world is grappling with an ever-growing—and often overwhelming—array of crises. To address these challenges, the 2025 Sustainable Development Impact Conference aims to bring together leaders from all sectors and regions worldwide, inspiring them to accelerate action at both scale and speed to drive inclusive growth and sustainable development.

Against the backdrop of a geoeconomic landscape marked by uncertainty, this conference will also serve as a vital dialogue platform for leaders from various sectors to discuss how to better benefit humanity, the planet, and the global economy.

"As geopolitical tensions escalate and sustainable development reaches a critical crossroads, we must strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors, adopting shared approaches to tackle our common challenges and actively shaping an inclusive global economy," said Børge Brende, President and CEO of the World Economic Forum. "In a context where cooperation is both essential—and yet increasingly difficult to achieve—our 2025 Sustainable Development Impact Summit will provide a unique platform for dialogue, focused on addressing the pressing development challenges ahead."

Seventy high-level political officials, including 22 leaders from international organizations, along with more than 500 decision-makers from the business sector, will attend the event in person to engage in discussions centered around carefully curated topics, aiming to explore innovative pathways for accelerating sustainable development.
